Technologies we use

To operate, this audio guide uses technical storage in your own browser (local storage and a technical cookie), which is necessary to provide the service. In addition, with your consent, it uses audience-measurement analytics to understand, anonymously and in aggregate, how the audio guide is used so we can improve it.

Technical storage (always on)

It is essential for the service to work and does not require consent. It stores only on your device:

  • Language preference: to remember your chosen language.
  • Favourites: to remember the points of interest you mark as favourites.
  • Saved routes: to remember the routes you create during your visit.
  • Current route: to remember the route (or the free visit) you are following, so that scanning a point's QR code opens it within that route. It is stored in a first-party cookie, jardines_ctx, which lasts 12 hours and only contains a reference to that route.

This information is stored on your device and is not shared with third parties. Only the current route is sent to our server, when you scan a QR code, to decide which page to show you.

Analytics (with your consent)

Only if you accept it in the cookie notice, we use Matomo, an audience-measurement analytics tool hosted on Patrimonio Nacional's own servers (no third party is involved), to obtain anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. It is not used for advertising and is not shared with third parties.

With your consent, Matomo stores first-party cookies on your device to distinguish visits: _pk_id (anonymous visitor identifier, lasting 13 months) and _pk_ses (session, about 30 minutes).

You can accept or reject these analytics in the cookie notice and change your choice at any time from "Configure cookies" in the menu. If you reject them —or withdraw your consent after having accepted— no analytics are loaded and those cookies are deleted.

Third-party services

Maps are displayed using OpenStreetMap cartography, whose tiles are served from third-party servers. We recommend that you consult that provider's privacy policy.

How to manage it

You can delete the locally stored information at any time from your browser's settings or privacy options. Deleting it may cause you to lose your favourites, saved routes and language preference.
